Saint-Sauveur Church

The idea to build the church of Saint-Sauveur in Morsbach, near Forbach was born at the dawn of the twentieth century. On 1st November 1900, Pope Leo XIII issued an encyclical, asking all believers to begin the new century in the spirit of the Saviour. This Encyclical from the Holy Father inspired the Morsbach parish priest, Nicolas Folschweiller, to build the church of Saint-Sauveur with the aim of bringing the Holy Father’s notion to fruition. The 18th of August 1907 proved to be an unforgettable day for the commune of Morsbach and for all the faithful of Lorraine. This long-awaited day erased all the worries felt during the preparations for building the church.
