Saint-Rémi Church

This Gothic Revival building in the shape of a Latin cross was built in accordance with plans drawn up by the architect Charles Desgranges, and consecrated in 1868 by the Bishop of Metz, Paul Georges Marie Dupont des Loges, and replaced the old churches of Saint Sébastien and Saint Rémi. The first of these, known as the “castral” chapel, located at the foot of the Schlossberg, accounts for the name for the old part of Forbach, the Kappelberg. The old Saint Rémi chapel was located in the lower town, close to the present-day Chapel of Notre Dame du Perpétuel Secours.
