A lyrical and powerful ode to the circus.
Reclaim, which means to reappropriate, is freely inspired by Ko'ch, a Central Asian ritual in which women attempt to build an egalitarian relationship with men, with the aim of proposing a fairer world for future generations. This audacious creation by Belgian company Théâtre d'Un Jour, winner of the Maeterlinck Prize from the critics, invites the audience to sit right on the stage, in the heart of an intimate arena, in striking proximity to the artists. Five high-flying acrobats, a lyric singer and two virtuoso cellists blend contemporary circus and baroque music to create an extraordinary experience. Never hesitating to summon up strangeness and primal instincts, Reclaim is a return to the circus of the early days, with acts as impressive as ever, inviting us to share in a kind of sacred ceremony of origins: a show as original as it is spellbinding.
