The old battle barracks

The "Bellevue" barracks, built by the city in 1911, comprised some twenty buildings designed to house three battalions. The 174th Infantry Regiment moved in on July 1, 1911. After 1918, the barracks took the name "Bataille" in memory of General Henri Jules Bataille (1816-1882), who had distinguished himself at the head of the 2nd Division during the battle of Forbach-Spicheren on August 6, 1870.
