Spectacle de danse : Helikopter / Licht

Shows

Karlheinz Stockhausen composed *HELIKOPTER* in 1996, a revolutionary work for string quartet and four helicopters in flight, in which the sound of the rotors intertwines in a thunderous manner with the musical notes. Although he initially considered the score impossible to bring to life when he first encountered it, Angelin Preljocaj—one of the leading figures in French dance—took on this major work of contemporary music and created a piece for six performers characterized by pure, refined, and committed movement. Constantly pushing the boundaries of the seemingly impossible is also what unites these two artists, as we discover in a video interview. This revival, twenty-four years after the premiere, is a testament to the choreographer’s boldness. He has also entrusted the musical composition for his latest show, LICHT, to the world-renowned DJ and icon of the “French touch,” Laurent Garnier. Together with twelve dancers, they bring a new vitality to the stage, like a luminous breath of freedom. The movements are more expansive. The gestures more sensual. A radiant glow, illuminating the stage and the colorful costumes, floods the entire auditorium, sweeping the audience away. By bringing together the grandfather of electronic music and one of its greatest ambassadors in a single dazzling program, Angelin Preljocaj forges a dialogue between the classical repertoire and contemporary creation, offering us a sensory and emotional evening of rare intensity. Ages 16 and up.
