One of the very first music schools in the Moselle department, the Conservatoire has been under state supervision since 1982, and offers some 600 students high-quality specialized teaching, open to all types of music and all audiences. Accessible from the age of 4 for both music and dance, and with no age limit for music, the community establishment offers individual and group lessons in 24 disciplines, encompassing all the instruments of the symphony orchestra (violin, Cello, Viola, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium, Percussion, Harp, as well as Recorder, Guitar, Piano, Organ, Singing and Dance).
Keyboard harmonization, basso continuo, choral conducting, orchestral conducting, adult choir, children's choir and specific musical training courses for singers are also offered, as are several chamber music ensembles (mini-harmony, big band, brass ensemble, two string orchestras, a guitar ensemble, a clarinet ensemble, a flute ensemble and a recorder ensemble), all of which are accessible to students free of charge.
The Conservatoire decentralizes most of its outreach activities to all the communes in its area, and trains its students to a high level of amateur musical, vocal and choreographic practice.
