major battle site from the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 and World War II, the Spicheren Heights reveal traces of this military past and invite visitors to delve into two battles sometimes little-known to the general public.<\/strong><\/p><p>Offering exceptional panoramic views, this historic site commemorates one of the bloodiest battles of the 1870 war (August 6), with nearly 9,000 casualties, but also the two World Wars.<\/p><p>From the current location of the American tank from World War II, which symbolizes the victory of democracy, Adolf Hitler had delivered, via radio, his Christmas speech to the German nation.<\/p><p>Numerous remains, nestled in nature, bear witness to these eras: French memorial cross, steles and commemorative buildings, cemeteries, American M24 tank, reconciliation chapel, WOTAN casemate.<\/p><p>The surrounding forest paths and trails also allow visitors to explore this historic site as a symbol of Franco-German
